Instructions for Enabling Popup Windows for Global Issues and Help:

This web site uses pop-ups for global issues and help files.  To see the global issues and help files, you must allow pop-ups for this web site.  Enabling pop-ups for this site will not cause you to receive pop-up ads on other web sites.

If you are using Internet Explorer with the Google Toolbar, ensure that the Google Toolbar says "site popups allowed."  To enable site popups, click the button on the Google Toolbar that says " # blocked" (e.g., 26 blocked).  Once you click that button, it looks like the picture below.

If you are using Internet Explorer with another PopUp Blocker, see the instructions for that software.

If you are using Netscape 7.0
, follow the instructions below to allow site popups.

  1. Click the Edit Menu.  Click Preferences.
  2. Click Privacy and Security.  Click Popup Windows
  3. Click Allowed Sites.  Add helpdesk.gallaudet.edu to the list and press OK.
    (The box "Block unrequested popup windows" must be checked)

FootPrints Welcome Text and Instructions:

Welcome to the Gallaudet University Technology Help Desk!

Effective June 8, 2004, the Help Desk is using FootPrints 6.0 from Unipress Software. This software will support the technology units on campus in providing faster service, better communication, better coordination, better follow-up, and a searchable knowledge base and FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions).

You can submit requests, update existing Issues, and submit queries to the system via the web at http://helpdesk.gallaudet.edu or via email to helpdesk@gallaudet.edu.

You can also get a copy of the HTML form for the project and keep it on your desktop for quick issue submissions.  [Send an email to helpdesk@gallaudet.edu, with the subject line:  HTML form.   Please do not share the form you receive.
It contains hidden contact information for you and issues submitted with that form will appear to be from you.]

The following instructions will help you use the FootPrints email feature. Please be advised that issues submitted by email take longer to process than requests submitted via the web. Whenever possible, use the web, http://helpdesk.gallaudet.edu, to submit requests.

NOTE:
You must submit requests from your CAMPUS email address. This is necessary so your requests can be associated with your contact profile in the GDOC Directory. Email from off-campus addresses will be returned and not processed. If you cannot or do not use campus email, submit your request via the web at http://helpdesk.gallaudet.edu/guest.

  1. TO RECEIVE AN EMAIL FORM with all fields for Issue submission, send an email to
     helpdesk@gallaudet.edu with the subject "HTML form".
  2. TO SUBMIT A REQUEST via email, send an email to helpdesk@gallaudet.edu 
    with a brief description of the request in the subject line and a full Description
     in the body of the email.  You will receive a confirmation mail when the request is successfully registered.
  3. TO ADD information to an existing Issue, reply to any email you receive from helpdesk@gallaudet.edu. Type your new message above the line and do not change the subject.
  4. TO REQUEST HELP, send an email to helpdesk@gallaudet.edu with the subject line: Help. 
    Include no other words in the subject line.

Please do not submit your service request to this address.  If you cannot email or use the web to submit your request,
visit, call, or fax the Help Desk.
